what should I watch in order and what do I not have to watch in order?

I recently finished lower decks (loved it) and am starting discovery and I'm wondering of there are shows/seasons/movies/etc that I should keep in mind to only get into after finishing another property. I know the general stuff already so things like most races won't confuse me.
side question: what star trek(ish) property do you suggest I get into sooner rather than later
