One would think with the voluminous Borg episodes that followed on Voyager and even that one-off on Enterprise that they could have set-up a rematch for Sisko. I don’t even like the Borg too much after they began defanging them with their overuse and the dilution of the mystery that initially surrounded them. But it feels like a missed opportunity. How cool would it have been to see Sisko get a shot at defeating them, lose his mind with revenge, or unexpectedly face PTSD in a subsequent encounter?
EDIT: While I respect canon as much as the next guy, please don’t respond with some variation of an in-universe answer like, “The Borg are nowhere near DS9.” I’ve been watching Trek since 1974, so I’m old enough to remember that Kirk’s middle initial was R. until it wasn’t. Even adhering to canon, writers come up with fantastical ways to “…make things happen.” I’m looking for thoughtful responses on the creative reasons this never occurred. I’ve gotten many, and it’s much appreciated.
