I have half a dozen colonies in vanilla and I produce between 20% and 50% of market share of every commodity.

How do I increase my profits? Raiding a competitor's mining did not increase the total ore market value as I expected (since they'd be forced to buy that ore) nor did it increase my market share (they lost 5% market and I controlled 50% market, so I expected to gain 2.5% market but I gained nothing).

I got annoyed and destroyed their spaceport, which reduced total market value of ore - is it because of their Mining which bought ore?

Is there anywhere I can read on how all these values are calculated? I am sure I can figure out how to exploit the economy if I know how it works...
