I picked it up after seeing it on clearance at Target for $18 USD. I have never played a traditional Star Fox game before (although I did very much enjoy Star Fox Adventures as a child). So the Star Fox team flew under my radar when this was released. I made the impulse buy it after having recently watched a review of the game by the Completionist on YouTube. (Link) There was also another video I had just watched where someone mentioned Star Fox Zero-itis regarding users hating controls. (It might have been ExoParadigmGamer's Remake or Rebreak regarding Super Mario 64 DS, but I'm not sure.) Since there were folks who seemed to like the controls, and their opinions were the first I heard about this game, I figured, what the heck---it's cheap enough to risk it.
Star Fox never seemed like the sort of thing I would enjoy -- I have never been one for rails shooters -- but Zero makes me feel so immersed, because it is so demanding and intense. I feel as though I am actually in the middle of a battle piloting an Arwing and having to keep track of everything. I caught myself with this silly smile on my face during the second level because the controls just clicked. Very draining but very fun, in my opinion. Sort of like the feeling I get playing Dark Souls. I can see this not being everyone's cup of tea, but I love it. I hope some of you have had similar experiences :)
