I was wondering how people think the setting materials should be published for 2nd edition. By that I mean, Pathfinder has always made a distinction between setting material and mechanical material. Obviously mechanical material is heavily flavored and there's always mechanical options published with setting material but you can tell which books are which, they're kept separate on the webstore, the major books have distinct naming conventions, etc. For Starfinder it's a little less cut and dry, everything is lumped into a single rulebook section and while there's some naming convention separation setting and mechanical material are often set side by side.
Personally I'd prefer if they took notes from Lost Omens in how they go about publishing setting material. They did Core Worlds and Near Space and then kind of just left it at that, I'd like if they had a primary setting book that covered the Core worlds and glossed over other interesting systems and then released larger supplements for those regions, like they've done with Mwangi, Impossible Lands, and Tian Xia coming up. I think they should still publish materials regarding how to create interesting planets and systems, I think that's a big appeal of Starfinder even if it's a little meh for myself, but I always find official material to be some of the best inspiration when I'm writing my own things, so I think if they can they should publish setting materials like they do for Pathfinder.
