First and foremost, I'd say I'm still a noob when it comes to starcraft 2 and the esl environment around it. But I'm curious, were 2 v 2 tournaments ever a thing?

My bud and I consistently play 2 v 2 matches almost every night. Hoping to become the best. But everywhere I look, there's no real end goal for 2 v 2. It's all focused on 1 v 1.

In my opinion, 2 v 2 takes a lot more from players than 1 v 1; communication, strategy, timing, correct army control, etc.

Why aren't 2 v 2 tourneys a thing? How many would be interested in this, and maybe a 3 v 3, 4 v 4?

Is it simple coordination of players that makes it hard to implicate a tournament system? Just looking for thoughts and opinions. Please, no hate.
