so my parents told me today that they were dropping me from their health coverage cause they couldn’t afford it and that i should get my own. they told me to look at the market place for health coverage because it is currently open enrollment and that because of my income they know i would qualify for high discounts. i checked it out and it’s true i wouldn’t be spending a ton on premiums but the deductibles were still so high compared to the coverage i had under them.
another manager that was covering our store while my own took a LOA for a week told me that i could still get starbucks coverage because being dropped from my parents insurance would qualify as a life changing event and they would give me a 45 day window to enroll from the date i was dropped. i checked the starbucks benefits websites and it didn’t list being dropped from coverage as a life changing even and said i could call the benefits number. i keep missing calling the because of the times their open and i was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is a thing because it would be so much cheaper for premiums and deductibles if i could be covered by starbucks.
