I'm curious how some of you fellow baristas deal/have dealt with working at Starbucks while also dealing with depression? My SM tries to really get us to be so positive and happy all the time, really enforcing that customer connection to talk and learn about the customers.
But lately I've noticed my depression is coming back in full force. From the outside I do my best to hide it from the customers, help them best I can, ask how their day is going, and send them off with a smile n "have a good rest of your day!" According to my SM it's not enough and whenever they tell me to do better, I have to bite my tongue from saying that I just don't care about customers because I have suicidal thoughts so I could care less.
