Hi i feel like i’ve been on repeat in this sub but i have another question. i am a 4 year partner, 2 as barista, 2 as a shit, and now 8 weeks as an ASM and i’ve decided/come to a realization that this position does not spark joy in me or bring me any happiness and that i do not in anyway want to be a store manager solely responsible for that business. Like i have been miserable in this position since the start of training and i just have not felt great about it. Today i took the partner experience survey and like i really shit on my current experience.
So i’m in the process of deciding if i should step down to being a shift. As an ASM i know that starbucks is going big on the shift coverage ratio (SCR) and that i can only go back down to a shift if there is a need/space for one at a store in my area. I do know a store in a district over that is going to be needing a shift soon.
I am seeking advice on how i should go about doing this process to guarantee i have a job. Like should i contact the manager of that store first to see if they’d have me on? How should I tell my DM that i no longer want this job? Like i feel like i have to do these political maneuvers in secret to make sure it all works out.
