Transferred to a new store— and they do everything wrong?!
Post Body

I’m posting here under a throwaway because I know my past manager uses this sub. I recently transferred to a new store (in the US) and have previously worked at 3 other starbucks across the US.

It’s only my third week, but I’m so troubled by what Im seeing that I feel uncomfortable working there/consuming drinks made at this location. I am hoping to receive affirmation that no, I’m not crazy, yes, this is wrong, and yes, I should really talk to my DM.

Here is a list of transgressions I’ve observed: - Not replacing day dots on teas/refreshers/ect. when refilling them - Never (I mean never) closing ice bin lids (and being scolded when I kept closing them) - Bottles of restroom cleaner sitting on the food/drink counters consistently - Not replacing sanitizers for 6 hours - Drinking bevs on the floor while working/making drinks - Declining customers drinks when we do have ingredients bc they don’t want to make them - Shit-talking other baristas/shifts - Not marking out drinks they consumer , or food. Not even printing out a sticker for it - Partners making their own drinks/food even when it’s not their current station - Not cleaning pumps/pitchers before refilling them - Not dating syrups and milks - Leaving milk, sweet cream, and whip cream on the counter indefinitely - Having brushes used on drains and urns out on the counter by the brewed coffee - Not wiping down counters or tossing sugar/tea packet scraps

… and several more I can’t recall at this time. I also feel that baristas do a lot of the responsibilities of the shifts, but that’s not as serious as the problems listed above.

I’m so deeply disturbed by this. I was going to just endure it, but today I was asked to leave early from my shift because my shift supervisor told me to stop wiping down (dirty, sticky) counters and bring more sandwiches (we weren’t even out) in from the back room, and I told her I would when I finished wiping.

Is anything I listed allowed? Was I taught wrong? Or are these things as bad as i feel they are?

Note: Forgot to mention that the manager is present for ALL of this. Every bit of it. She doesn’t do anything. I haven’t talked to her yet to complain because she clearly is A-okay with it.
