Post Body

Dear girl who apologized for throwing her cash on the counter instead of giving it to me in my hand,

You aren't the first to ignore my out stretched hand and toss your cash on the counter.... you are the first to blink for a moment, apologize and state "wow. I don't know why I did that." You apologized again and kept kind of murmuring to yourself, asking why you did that.

Thank you. In your little moment of awkward self awareness... you didn't lash out like some customers do when they feel equally embarrassed. You just apologized, we joked... We moved on. Thanks for not blowing it out of proportion. Thanks for correcting yourself when you remembered that I'm human too and it was rude what you did.

Just thanks.

I hope you know, I don't think you are a bad rude person. We are just human and it's easy to be rude when it is socially okay to be that way. Most of the people who come in do this... like 90% throw bills on the counter or their card and look away like I am below them and not even there. Some people place the bills down and slide them my way because they are juggling thing and we are talking and they are okay... its those that literally toss payment on the counter and look kind of past me... like I'm a tool not a person.

Its... tiresome. But you gotta have a thick skin when you deal with so many people everyday. It can burn you out...

Anyhow. I hope you come in more often. You are the reason I like my job. It's impossible to create moments for self entitled and unaware people. It's those that see me as a person who can value when I go the extra mile.
