Starbound 1.0 Dedicated Linux Server - Client Connection Aborted
Post Body

A long time ago, in a linux32 directory far, far away, I used to host a dedicated linux server for my starbound friends to join. With the release of 1.0, I figured a server revival was a good idea, and I spun up a server using steamcli.

Unfortunately, whenever I try to connect to my server (localhost or through portforwarding) I get something like:

Info: UniverseServer: Connection received from: 192.168.0.1:60910
Warn: UniverseServer: client connection aborted

I have spent days googling, looking at game resources and asking around in the IRC channel to no avail.

Does anyone have the linux64 bit starbound_server installed through steamcli working? Could you share with me your starbound.config file?

A little environment background, if it helps:

  • Ubuntu 15.10
  • 64 bit
  • Fresh, fully-updated install for both desktop steam and the steamcli dedicated server
  • vanilla, no mods
  • default port 21025
  • disabled ufw (firewall) while setting up
  • starbound.config gameServerBind set to 192.168.0.100 (internal ip) or 127.0.0.1 or :: gives the same results
  • port forwarding 21025 to same port on internal computer

Plz halp.
