Stalker SoC (PS4) Armor?

Is there anywhere near Cordon that you can pickup a decent piece of combat armor so I can, like, stay alive just a little longer?
I’ve picked up some better guns looting bodies after a few ambushes and battles but I still bleed like a stuck pig wearing basically just combat fatigues as armor.
It’d just be nice to survive to get a few more shots in before saving like hell and planning my escape.
