I was surprised to see a white tailed squirrel this morning feeding with my regular neighborhood gray squirrels.
Their food is whole dried corn and unsalted peanuts in the shell. (I also have a heated water bowl with an aquarium air pump with am aeration stone that runs 24/7. It helps to keep the water from freezing over in extreme winter temps. And I believe the aeration helps to oxidize any pathogens that might grow and keeps mosquitoes away since the water isn't "standing.")
I apologize for the fuzzy quality of the pics but they were captured by my deck camera and screenshot on my phone. I tried to sharpen them in Paint.Net but couldn't make it happen.
Anyway, I live in the outskirts of St. Louis, MO and I've never seen one of these before. In fact, I had to search "white tailed squirrel" on the web to make sure it wasn't just an anomaly.
