Jang Geum-ja, player 149, claims to have lived through the Korean War, and played the 5 stones game with bullets. The Korean War took place 1950 to 1953, so if the show is set in 2024 (I think it is, correct me if I’m wrong), the war ended 71 years ago. I’d say the mother would have had to be at least 5 or 6 to have the coordination needed to play the game. That would make her at least 76 years old.

What do you think? Is she supposed to be as old as Oh Il-Nam in the first series? Which is really, really old to be playing death games. Or is it possible she’s exaggerating her past, and was born after the war?

For what it’s worth, the actor is 61 years old. She could definitely be playing older. In my country, older people sometimes act like they lived through World War II, even though most of them would’ve been way too young. This made me think that she could be lying about her past in the same way that the marine guy probably wasn’t a marine (just got the tattoo).
