Howdy gang, I recently revived the family K5 Blazer from the grave. “The Beast” sat at my uncle’s repair shop for close to seven years after the second blown transmission. Finally had the time, energy & resources to bring her back, road trip her down to Florida & give her to my uncle. I unfortunately wasn’t able to tackle everything on the rebuild & am willing to admit I am an amateur in this realm so I wanted to consult this wonderful community for ideas on things they should address or look into for final repairs/upgrades.
*the main issue is the rough ride & play in steering. I know these trucks are known for it but need the best advice for how to tackle it.
Completed so far:
- Radiator
- Fuel tank
- Fuel pump
- Rebuilt transmission
- 350 with low mileage
- Front brakes, calipers, hoses, lines
- New tires
- Front leaf springs (2.5in lift)
- Soft topper
- Steering stabilizer
- Tie rod
Needs attention:
- Shocks: Bilstein 5125’s https://youtu.be/HiTc8XFMZdQ
- Steering box: redhead ??
- Body bushings
- What am I missing?
Thanks for any help & guidance !!!
