Why does Spotify take up 2GB on my Android tablet with no downloaded songs?

The cache took up 314kb, but it had stored around 1.9GB in data alone. I just cleared my data and logged in again. My login takes up around 15mb of data.
I don't download any songs or podcasts, since I always have either wifi or 4G on my tablet, and plenty of data to spare.
For the record, it's a Huawei AGS-L09. Could it just be poor data management on Huaweis end?
