The ego is the illusion that blinds us from universal truth

If you can effectively displace the lens of ego from your perception of reality with love and high vibration to become closer to that universal one/truth energy, you can stop seeing the world and yourself through a self centric view. I think that is the primary importance of ego death.
To realize that energy and vibration transcend reality, and in order to growth spiritually you must tap into the right wavelengths by lifting the illusion created by a lifetime of programming based around the ego
