How to stop worrying?

I have to have Echocardiograms every 5 year to check up on a condition i have. I find myself constantly worrying when it is coming up to my next Echo. Is this the Ego. What does worrying achieve? Worrying gives me this dark feeling that I just cant shake off & it runs my life. I am currently in the AA & we say the Serenity Prayer often ' God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference." I am trying to say this but it isn't working.

Any advice please?
