Hey, Iâm new here. I donât identify as a Christian, but because of my familyâs dedication and our long history with the religion (Keep in mind, even agnostic you can still talk to him!), I feel connected to God through my great-grandmother. (She's 84 and has the gift of seeing and talking to spirits. Love this woman.) He seems pretty laid-back. I know some Bible verses, but the spirit doesnât really seem to reflect that? He gives the impression that he doesnât mind what you practice or how you do it, as long as it leads you to him. But thatâs not my main point. Does it really matter how you call on him? For centuries, my family has always referred to him as the holy spirit, and he has always responded. Some people have a problem with this reference, citing the Bible, and I'm a bit confused. Earlier in my familyâs history (and much of the African diaspora's, due to slavery), they couldnât read, but I KNOW they needed SOMEONE to help them, and that was the holy spirit or whatever spirit they could call upon. I didnât think the way we address him would be that significant.
