ACDF Post Op Day 4 (c5-c7)
Going on day 5 this morning and I could say it hasn’t been better since I got this surgery. Yes this surgery is very scary as I did cry like a baby before they rolled me in the the OR.
Before surgery i had numbness in my legs and feet and weakness in my hands muscle atrophy between the thumb and fore finger and my hand would start to randomly throw up gang signs and cramp up.
The worst part since surgery is the neck brace to be honest and have to sleep in a recliner. The pain of the surgery was a breeze compared to the nerve pain I was in before hand!
Since the surgery I have some numbness in my right hands ring finger and still and a little on the right thigh by the knee but other then that it amazing how much pressure they took off my spinal cord. The surgeon was the regional chief of spine surgery (ortho). Time it took was about an hour and half.
As far as swallowing and eating I have sorta a sore throat my voice is pretty normal but when they intubated me they did rip the shit out of my tonuge tie… I really hope this helps people not be so scared to get the surgery done.
