Question for those with leg movement

For back story Iโm a c5 incomplete, my accident was in mid August last year.
Just this week I was able to kick my legs out for the first time. The day after I did that my PT had me push myself from bent knee position to straight legged on a total gym. All of this was incredible but Iโve noticed itโs inconsistent on when I can kick my legs. Will that change with time? Is there anything I can do to help facilitate more leg movement?
