I have been testing Izzet decks to build in paper on arena. Naturally I started with the "stock" Izzet control deck list on mtggoldfish. I found myself really struggling in the ranked AND casual ques for a few reason. Firstly mono-red beatdown is everywhere and the matchup feels absolutely abysmal. Then there's the issue of being a "control" deck that doesnt go over the top of anything. My haymakers feel severely underpowered vs decks like sultai control. It feels like I have to counter 3/4 of the deck while protecting a dragon to establish a clock; which is a tough ask. I only feel in control on the play and against slower midrange decks. Honestly there isn't a single deck I feel favored on the draw. The deck does a good job of sending a dragon and protecting it, but it has to enter turn five at parity to do so or else your resources get bogged down dealing with the board. Before I commit to the deck in person I wanted to hear some other players take on it. Thanks!
Edit: sorry meant to include I'm talking about standard
