Post Body

Is this a black widow, we live in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas? I saw this in my yard last night when outside with my dogs.

After taking the photo I left the spider alone and returned to the house. The dog did return to the area and today I noticed the mark in final picture on her neck. She seems otherwise fine so I’m not worried about a bite from a health point of view and am seeing her vet tomorrow as the wound is open, if anyone has knowledge of black widow bites I am curious if this is potentially one.

Finally, in addition to 2 dogs, i have 2 young kids (2&4), so any suggestions on how to best coexist (I appreciate spiders are part of the ecosystem and don’t want to kill them but equally don’t want my kids to be bit).
