I’ve been building a connection with a grass spider from outside for a few weeks and she seems to have taken to me! 🥺💕 I’ve taken to her a lot too.
I read about them, and apparently (and correct me if I’m wrong! I’m a spider noob / have no training) they wont survive the winter? :-(
I also read that if she’s pregnant she wont survive the birth anyway, but if she’s not I’d really like to get a terrarium and move her in! I’m gonna be doing a bunch of research but I wanted to know if this is okay or if it’s ill-advised? I want to give her more time (also selfishly spend more time with her bc I’m struggling emotionally and don’t want to grieve anything else, lol) and I’d like to make her a home she’ll really love if possible!
okay so, I am maybe nutso and maybe she just went through a molt, but I swear there is now someone new on her web!!! I don’t feel like it’s her! This one is way more shy and seems smaller? Maybe it’s one of her kids? 🥹 Thanks for including so much information! I’m happy to just watch the spider family in their natural habitat (and also give them worms!) (‘:
Can you tell if she’s pregnant even? I was hoping someone with an eye for it could let me know! I was only thinking of moving her in if she wasn’t that way she wouldn’t die in the cold. :-/
If she is pregnant I hope I get to see her babies 🥺 it doesn’t look like she is though. If she isn’t by winter it would be nice to give her a little extra time & spoil her with worms! I definitely get the beauty of impermanence, though, so either way I hope she’s having a good life.

O:! It makes sense that she’d be molting! I also think I understand her web setup more now and she made like a whole condo! The web in the picture is where she catches food, but she’s kinda got a whole tunnel esque system that I’ve been able to watch her use to get to different parts of her build! Definitely gonna err on the side of caution and not give anymore worms! Thanks for letting me know!
I think it is a molt! She looks smaller and also her fangs look different!
It’s been really comforting to learn about her and other spiders during an admittedly really hard time in my life (unrelated to spiders, lol) ,, the way the world views them vs what they are is relatable. I hope her kids thrive 🥺💕 I’m proud of her for working so hard!
