I want to know what the community’s general consensus is on what comes to mind when someone says something like “I was SpecOps for X amount of years.”
CONTEXT: I play a game that has clans. Our clan leader said that he was “…SpecOps for 10 years.” For me, this brings to mind SEALs, Force Recon, Deltas, etc. Ground Pounders running around warzones doing deeds.
During a recent conversation with the clan leader, he told me he spent his time in the military on Spectre Gunships, not in a ground unit. As a former Marine grunt with SOME SOC training (I am NOT SpecOps, nor did I see combat,) this seems to me to be a person grossly misrepresenting what they did in the military.
What say you… the real SpecOps operators? Are Spectre aircrews “SpecOps?”
I ask because this person is a YouTube/Streaming personality, and he’s out there representing your community, and I need to know if he’s wrong, or, if I’m just overreacting?
