My buddy is hosting a small dedicated server for just a couple friends, and while sometimes it works just fine, quite often when I try to connect, I do, and the world loads, but I can't interact with anything. If I open up the Stats overlay (shift F11) I get this:

0KB/s up and down. Obviously the two machines are communicating because the world does load. If I disconnect and reconnect several times, sometimes I do get in and can play normally, but gosh its frustrating because sometimes by the time I actually do connect properly I'm so frustrated that I don't want to play.

Anybody got any suggestions to explain what the heck is going on and what can be done to fix this?
