In-game script optimization/code review for my elevator script

I've been working on a simple elevator script in my spare time and I was curious if anyone would be kind enough to let me know if I can optimize this script any more than it already is.
Primarily I'm curious if try/catch is the most efficient way to check for errors or should I have a bunch of conditional checks instead.
