Incentive to go on other planets

Hey!
New to SE, I’m having fun right now. However it wondering is there any incentive to move to other planets? I know uranium are on asteroids only but beside that I’ve read that you need a mod to have resources distributed between planets and moon. That’s true?
In other words moving from planet to planet would only be for fun and there is no practical reason to do so?
