One of the big downfalls to SMP is the lack of defensive capabilities. Most ships that employ defenses use either: decoys ejected during a fight; thick armor; or strategically placed welders.

However I think a golden opportunity is being missed because gravity does not affect missiles or other ships. If a way can be devised where one ship's artificial gravity can affect another without the need for mass blocks (mass blocks would allow a ship's own gravity to affect itself) there could be some interesting applications.

I for one would love fields of spherical generators mounted on a ship to divert the path of missiles being fired at it.
