Spacesuit and ore scanning.

Do spacesuits still show ore locations? I'm literally finding nothing and in desperate need of uranium.
Any tips for finding it? I'm on star system map and just set up base in the side of a hill with an ice field outside.
Also my suit is down to 25% energy and the sun went down on my solar panels, meaning no chance of recharging my suit, my only option is the uranium.
