SP-404 MKII and Ableton Live 12 integration

Ok, so I know how to connect my sp to Ableton and record my fully made song (on multiple pads in pattern mode) into one clip on Ableton, but my question is…is there a way that I can break up the tracks so that like I can have my kick on on clip, my hi hats on another, a chopped up sample on several clips and then record the different tracks through Ableton so that mastering can be approached track by track? Or am I making things way more complicated? Thanks for any advice.
