Sounding advice please?

I am desperate need of advice on sounding.
I can't seem to experiment without a burning sensation in my urethra. I use quality stainless steel or silicone as well as surgical lube, but I can't seem to play without having a painful sensation within seconds of inserting the sound slowly. I'd love to be able to experience more pleasure then I am, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
