So quick context, Ive played all of From's games and am mainly looking to scratch that itch from a boss encounter perspective with non-From games. I.e. design, music, lore, gameplay.
Ive started to go through the list with some Soulslikes Ive gotten (PSN sales!) and appreciated what LoTF (2014) and The Surge were doing, but their bosses are....not particularly great lol, so Ive put in a few hours in both and Im not really feeling them.
What I own:
Nioh 1/2, got the collection some years ago. I assume this close to the top answer? Some of the boss encounters look pretty cool from what Ive seen.
Lies of P, got it on sale yesterday, but Im trying hold off on it because I know how well its regarded.
I have Remnant 1, but mainly asking about either game.
Mortal Shell
Any other games to look out for? Do the Surge 2 and LoTF 2023 improve on boss encounters? Does Wo Long or Stranger of Paradise have good boss encounters/design? Any info would be helpful!
If you count them as Souls-likes, the Blasphemous games have very memorable bosses. The more mechanically intricate ones are reserved for late game, but there's also a nice amount of spectacle.
