I've been a huge soul eater fan for 8 years, it was my "gateway" anime. Seen it 4 times, twice dubbed twice subbed. Last week, I finally made the jump to read the manga, and after binge reading i finished it today. I don't understand all the praise. The manga was extremely confusing, the art was mediocre, and the whole thing felt extremely rushed. There were massive plot holes, people's personality changing completely for no reason except to advance the plot, etc. However, being as I am broke, I did read it through scanlations, so it's possible some of the confusion came from that.

Essentially, I'm wondering if anyone agrees with me that the manga is overpraised, and for those who dont, why you enjoyed it, and maybe a reccomendation of where I could find a good translation of the manga in full. Maybe if I read it again with the official translation, my mind will be changed.
