Can Death use the abilities of the pillars?

So I read all of Fire Force and I’m watching Soul Eater now when I started thinking about Death as a character. Could Death use the abilities of the pillars he took in at the end of Fire Force? I know Shinra created him to be not as powerful as Bonshoman form, but does that mean he can’t use them at all? If not, was the purpose of taking the abilities in just to take them away?
