Any extra steps needed to reformat notebook with Sophos Power-on Authentication?

Post Body

Purchased an old notebook from Goodwill that I intend to re-purpose. However the notebook has Sophos software that requires you to log in before booting in to windows. I know the password, but previously when cleaning company specific software off system, I bricked it and can no longer boot windows.

In my mind I should be able to go in to bios, change the boot order from hard drive to thumb drive and choose to reformat and re-install. This is what I'd do with a computer that doesn't have the pre-boot software, at least.

  • Would this work in this situation?
  • Would the pre-boot software still be around?
