I need advice concerning Sony TV (A80L and X95K)

Post Body

Hey everyone, I just moved in another country and I'm looking at getting a new TV.

This TV would be mainly used for video games (PS5, Switch) but also to watch some shows and movies on official streaming services or any other type of files I could find and I also watch some NHL hockey games and Formula 1 races.

Back in Canada, I used to have a 65" Sony A80K. I really really loved that TV but sadly, I couldn't bring it with me. It would sometimes not get bright enough but when I was able to control the lighting, I really liked it. I was not really gaming much on it though, mostly movies and sports.

I just moved to New Zealand and, I was looking at the prices for the A80L and for the Black Friday, the deal was, well, not even a deal, the TV was still very expensive compared to North America. Right now, the 65" is at $4300 tax included. I could although add a 10% voucher from Sony that I have. I tried looking for the A80K but can't be found.

Then, I found the X95K which is the Mini-Led from Sony, which could be interesting but, I'm afraid of a downgrade here. The 65" is at $3300 tax included. So, a $1000 less. I still could use that 10% voucher.

My current situation is that the TV would be in a 4 walls room, on a entertainment unit across the window wall. I sadly can't put it anywhere else. I do have some curtains for that window but my room cannot get theatre black. I would be using that TV on day and night time.

I know the X95L is a big bump over the X95K and I also know the differences between the A80K/L and the X95K.

My question is this : Do you think that I would encounter a big downgrade going for the X95K? Should I wait for maybe a better deal on the Boxing Day? Is the price difference making the decision easier?

I'm not broke, but everyone likes to save a few bucks where possible, so I really just want your advice concerning this situation. Although I know the X95K is an extremely capable TV, coming from that A80K paired with the HT A7000 that I had, I really loved the experience. I would get myself a PS5 also, the burn-in might scare me but, I know the protections exist and I know how to deal with an OLED TV obviously. Maybe the brighness of the X95K although inferior to the X95L (which is $5900 o.o) would maybe be a better idea for the hockey games and Formula 1 races that I watch.

Thank you for your advices !
