Anyone familiar with the old Sony J-decks?

Post Body

I’m freelancing on an archival project where the machine I am to use is a Sony J-30SDI. It’s been a couple years since I used one, and even then it was minimal due to better machine options. However, I have no choice this time. I have found the manual, but cannot find how to adjust audio levels. I found the menu option to change from fixed to variable, but not how to actually change it while in VAR mode. Any help would be appreciated. I’m also having problems getting four channels of audio to pass through on my BetaSP. It only wants to send through ch 1-2 and it’s pretending 3-4 don’t exist (and I tried changing the menu output audio to ch 1,2,3,4… still just 2 coming through). Thoughts or help? (When I throw in a digi, four channels output no problem. It’s just the BetaSp it doesn’t recognized past 2 channels).
