So I have a PlayBar, Sub, and 2 x Play:1s as surrounds in my living room with my high end 55” tv. I have 2 x Play:5s and a Sub in my bedroom and my low end (but still 4K) 55” tv. I’m not going to use the Play:5s as surrounds, I like how they sound in stereo with the Sub, so I wasn’t planning on breaking up that setup. Note: I do have 2 x Ones in my kitchen which is near my living room, so if I need Airplay 2 to my living room, I can always play to that and group with the living room, but it’s not quite as nice as having it in the living room already.
My bedroom is large enough to fit a queen bed and a tv entertainment unit, so maybe 12x12. My living room is a bit larger, maybe 15x15, but it is open to the kitchen which makes the space feel a lot bigger.
So. Assuming that the Beam is not quite as good as the PlayBar (especially with base) but is still very good, I have a few options.
Option 1: Living Room has 5.1 with the PlayBar, Bedroom has a stand-alone Beam, and the 2xPlay: 5s and Sub stay separate from the Beam in the Bedroom.
Option 2: Living Room has 5.1 with the Beam, Bedroom has a stand-alone Beam, and the 2xPlay: 5s and Sub stay separate from the Beam in the Bedroom.
Option 3: same as option 1 except I group in one room the Beam, 2x Play: 5s (not as surrounds, still in stereo with each other), and Sub, and accept that instead of stereo sound from the Play: 5s, I’ll get stereo sound from 2 sources (stereo Play: 5s and left/right channel in Beam) in the same room that might be weird to get used to, but this does let me use the Beam with the Sub.
Option 4: same as Option 1 except I move the sub to the Beam, so I have 3.1 in the Bedroom with the Beam and the Play: 5s no longer have a sub.
I get that all of these are excellent, first world options, but I’m having trouble deciding.
