As Samuel L Jackson in Jurassic Park would say, Hold onto your butts, cuz I have a theory here that you guys won’t like. Check my comment history and you will see that I absolutely want to see a hand recount of the swing states but let me tell you why I don’t think we will get one. Yes I’m a cynic.

If there was massive cheating as it seems there could have been and a hand recount is done and the new count shows Harris in fact won then here is in general what would happen.

-First off republicans would lose their minds, rioting in the streets, Jan 6 all over again, etc.

(But that’s not why there wouldn’t be a recount)

• There would need to be a thorough investigation done and in all likelihood that investigation would find that Trump colluded with Musk and Russia and mostly likely Republican congressmen and possible other foreign entities.

• If that happened Trump, and all Americans who helped him would need to be found guilty of Treason of the highest order (for rigging an election in collusion with an enemy state) and either spend the rest of their lives in prison or be put to death.

• The general public would lose all faith in the system, we wouldn’t trust elections again for years, the stock market here and potentially world wide would plummet for at least a little while. Our allies would lose even more faith in our govt than they already have.

And it’s the last bullet point that is the reason why this isn’t likely to happen. If billionaires stand to lose billions as a result they will keep Harris from doing a recount. If billionaires who were involved in this stand to go to prison and be stripped of their riches they will stop at nothing to keep that from happening.

I can’t tell you how much I hope I’m wrong, and maybe Harris and her team are going over the numbers right now with the best data analysts in the country and mapping out every dirty thing that may have happened to build their case but all they need to do a recount is to ask and pay for it. If her billionaire donors really wanted her to do a recount she would probably have started already. Like I said in the beginning I’m a cynic. I hope I’m wrong but this feeling has been growing in me the last couple days. Please don’t be devastated if nothing happens just take it for what it is. Money rules our politicians and until our electorate becomes better informed and more concerned with the state of their govt nothing will change, in fact I believe things are going to get worse. Just had to get that off my chest. Downvote if you must but I’m on your side here.

Edit- I don’t think we will be able to turn our country around at all quickly but if the billionaires really are in charge, I firmly believe this, then here is what I would recommend. Buy used, buy less, buy local. Exercise, and eat better, take care of your body to stay healthy. If you have the space, grow a garden, raise some chickens, etc. As much as possible do not buy things from major corporations. Buy a used car instead of new and keep it until you really NEED a new one not just want a new one. Buy your clothes from consignment shops. Use Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok less. Use AI as little as possible. Invest in reusable energy for your home if possible. Read a book instead of watching tv. Bike to work instead of driving if possible. Eat less meat, less fast food, less food from chain restaurants. Don’t stay at major hotel chains, do an air b&b instead. All of this will hurt the wallets of billionaires. Do what you can whether a recount happens or not.
