Checked baggage in this climate?

I am planning a 1 mos trip with about 30 outfits (see below) and normally I would be able to fit this in a checked bag carry on. However I plan to take 5 flights during the trip and am worried about losing my luggage on a flight based on the stories I have read in the news, such as the heathrow disaster. While I won’t fly into any major European hubs I wonder what approach y’all have taken.

Would you still recommend checking in luggage? Has anyone used those vacuum sealed bags and do they help cut down volume? Thanks
