Should I be worried as a black male traveling across the U.S
Post Body

So I've told my parents that I plan to travel across the U.S specifically the pacific northwest. But my mother who was born in the early 1950's keeps saying it would be a little bit more dangerous for me since I'm black.

That and she she has also read many stories about other travelers being killed and even being killed in large groups and if I did choose to travel I should do it by car and not go backpacking, but I would rather walk around a see the world around me then drive around in a car. Now then I have done the research for these types of trips and Im still doing research on this so I would be safe and so I can have some sort of income while I'm out.

So would I be ok?
