I am planning a 2.5 - 3 week trip to Central America next February. Thinking of doing Guatemala and Belize; I speak fluent Spanish and I've been to South America/Central before. I am single so I like a bit of nightlife, as well as culture, hiking, beaches, Scuba, Mayan ruins etc.
Can anyone offer advice as to whether El Salvador is worth including, given the timeframe? I know the safety situation has improved there a lot due to the new president. As it stands I don't plan to spend time in Guatemala City or Belize capital (airports aside) - I may fly into one and out of the other.
I'm not 100% fixed on doing Belize and Guatemala either. I don't want to spend the whole time rushing from one place to the next, but I am keen to make it a diverse trip. Any input from folks who have travelled to these places is appreciated, thanks.
