Question: costs of growing food?

Post Body

Money is tight for me right now and I'm wondering if it's worthwhile for me to try a vegetable garden / window garden this year. Between pots, soil, gardening tools, gloves...I mean some things I could probably borrow from a neighbor... but even if I do manage to successfully grow some little plants (that the cat doesn't miraculously eat) won't I only be growing like $20 worth of produce? I don't have a ton of space for it.

I guess I'm wondering if anyone has a link to a cool article where someone has run the numbers on the costs of (a beginner) growing food at home?
