While this may not apply to a majority of the community, I wanted to pass this along to at least someone. So, I was looking into the Massachusetts SMART program to figure out what it was all about and see if it had any more info than I was receiving from the salespeople when getting quotes for my system. Then I found this little gem posted on the state website.
Apparently, when you apply to the SMART program you need to give the State information such as installer name, location of install, size of the system, and the real kicker...the price of the system and the cost per watt of the system. Yes, that's right the state actually discloses what people are paying for solar installs in the state. This info is current too (December 2022 install dates).
The excel file posted in the link below quotes prices people are paying per watt and the company that is installing the system. I noticed some really high PPW, but I presume that's due to the roll in of finance fees people pay for their loans. Keep in mind the equipment is not listed, so you do need to consider that it may not be apples to apples, but it should help in your MA Solar negotiations! Hopefully other states post similar information as well.
