Grid tie system in New Zealand

What's generally considered a reasonable return on spend for residential solar? I'm pricing up a 5kw grid tie system and looks like it will have paid for itself in savings at around 7 to 8 years of ownership, presuming no major maintenance problems after the installer warranty finishes in 5 years. Also considering spending a little extra and buying a Fronius gen24 inverter which can be used with a battery in the future or provide emergency power during blackouts but will add an extra 10% or 15% to the overall cost versus cheaper non-hybrid inverters.
