Just thought Iād share with others how the first few months of our solar (45kW) and batteries (120kWh) has gone. All in NZ dollars so times by 0.6 for USD
In the last three months our power bill was an average of $126 per month instead of a whopping $2520 it would have been if running directly from grid.
We generated 14000kWh of power from our solar system for $0
We purchased a further 6000kWh from the grid at an average price of 18c per kWh ($1080)
We actively sold 1719kWh at an average of 33c per kWh for revenue of $567.27 through some custom build spot price arbitrage software (sounds way fancier than it is).
We had an estimated 1465kWh of surplus solar which we sold for a total of $131.85 (exported when our batteries were full and we were making more than we were consuming)
We ran our entire business and household, which consists of 2 EVs, irrigation, numerous on farm vehicles, mowers, tools, air conditioning, heating and hot water for $126 a month.
Our solar and battery system setup cost $216k. If the last three months were anything to go by, this system will take 7.5 years to pay itself off!
Note: Winter months mean less solar production, so it's closer to 8-9 years in total.
