New to solar need assistance

I recently lost one of my parents so I have been taking care of the house, and i moved back into my parents house where my mom had solar panels installed with no batteries. I would like to slowly and surely buy enough batteries to handle all of the wattage my house needs.
I use Home Assistant so I’m able to pull data of usage etc with the emphase system that’s installed.
How would I go about starting to build a battery system and what information would I need to know?
