I think I got 90% if I recall correctly, mostly looked at the word "Passed". I'm definitely excited to put myself back out there with confidence in my resume. Would love any resources or finding jobs that aren't just crowdtesting, if possible.
It took about 3 months of casual study, though I think you'd only need a month total of dedicated study (2-3 hours a day).
I used the following resources
- Official CTFL syllabus: Dense, but manageable
- Udemy Course: Didn't make me feel as prepared as I could be, reading the syllabus was better
- Linkedin Learning: I mostly used this to review concepts to make sure I knew them or to find out what I may have missed
- TM^2 Youtube videos: Also dense and wasn't as helpful as I thought. I ended up skipping through a lot of the videos because he basically makes a powerpoint and then reads the powerpoint. His anecdotes might be more helpful for you, but I wasn't a fan.
- Official CTFL sample exams: Super helpful, a little bit harder than the exam I took IMO, but definitely vital. Questions are very similar in how precise some of them are worded.
The most helpful thing I did was to read through the learning objectives for each chapter, writing them down, and then summarizing the content as I read through the syllabus. Like just taking notes and the sample exams is all you need to pass. I was able to access all of the resources for free, so I guess the only cost is the CTFL exam. I didn't link to the specific courses because I wasn't sure if that would break rule 1.
Also, will I receive the answers to my exam? I just wanted to know what I missed because there were some really confusing questions
I only passed 2 of the sample exams, but I still felt ready after going through that summary practice. It helped me to physically write out the notes rather than read through it, that way I was forced to summarize the syllabus in my own words--any parts I didn't understand just by reading I looked up. Maybe that will help you.
But yeah, the sample exam questions are similar in scope and style.
I only know about the sample exams found on the website, https://www.istqb.org/certifications/certified-tester-foundation-level
If the sample exams are anything like the mockup sheets, or if we're just referring to the same thing with different name, then yeah they are similar. Tricky and precise wording.

Thanks! We both passed! Congrats to both of us
